Description:
Japanese woodcraft at its finest. This cedar magewappa (bentwood) tray is crafted from both red heartwood—the dense, richly toned core of the cedar—and white sapwood, the softer outer layers just beneath the bark. By combining these contrasting woods, the full character of the tree is honored and waste is minimized. Each tray is finished with a traditional float-carving technique and coated in five layers of urushi (lacquer), rendered in four striking hues.

Remarkably light yet visually striking, it works beautifully as a functional tray, a refined base for teaware or floral arrangements, or as a sculptural accent displayed on the wall.
